Two-thirds of illiterate people in sub-Saharan countries are women and more than 65% of people living in the most extreme poverty globally are women and girls. At OHED, women empowerment is a key part of correcting this clear imbalance. Reaching gender equality and strengthening women rights are essential for sustainable development in OHED operational zones and across the entire DR Congo.
OHED offers specific women empowerment projects that are designed to support the National Sustainable Development Goals. Helping to empower women is a vital step in making sure this goal is reached in both urban and rural areas of the DR Congo.
