Tree Plantations

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND TREE PLANTATIONS

In OHED operational zones, trees make communities and ecosystems more resilient to climate change. Congolese people know that trees are the unsung heroes in the fight against climate change and poverty. Not only do they pull carbon out of the atmosphere, but they also help communities and ecosystems adapt to extreme weather events and a hotter planet. They slow flood waters, reduce temperatures in urban areas, and make people healthier and happier.

However, since 2014, OHED projects on tree plantations have not yet been supported by the concerned world agencies although provided efforts are enormously visible on ground. Up to 5,000 trees have already been planted by OHED members in Ruzizi, Oraza, Malingumu, Fizi, Lubanda, Kilembwe and Lumbwe areas. At OHED, we expect support from charity partners to keep fighting against climate change in the DR Congo.
Many thanks to all of you!
