Solidarity and Community Building

SOLIDARITY PROGRAMS
At OHED, solidarity helps to stress and promote relational aspects, as well as to encourage the principled idea of a united organization. In fact, amongst members, solidarity highlights the nature of the organizational social attachment and the notion of collective responsibility and networks to assist communities under circumstances. To call attention to this, OHED members normally use the slogan <PAMOJA TUNAWEZA> and apply it when carrying out activities in operational zones. Likewise, Solidarity is an awareness of shared interests, objectives, standards, and sympathies creating a psychological sense of unity of OHED members. It is based on the organization collaboration and refers to ties that bind people together as one.

FORUMS FOR PEACE BUILDING AND STABILITY
A community forum is a place for community members to ask and reply to questions related to a specific concern. OHED members organize internal and external community forums in operational zones. Internal community forum is a private space where members and other community groups can discuss education and development matters. Generally, OHED members use forums to share information and/or news, get feedback on latest ideas from other teams in the organization; share lessons learned from a completed project ; discuss the best way to launch a new strategy and test the mechanisms of getting success for upcoming changes. External community forum allows OHED members and other organizations to discuss issues regarding common plans and/or synergies. To summarize, community forums have a few main functions, including discussion, support, feedback, and collaboration.

REINFORCEMENT OF PACIFIC COHABITATION AND SOCIAL COHESION AMONGST COMMUNITIES
At OHED, we compared the subjective importance of the value of social cohesion and the perceived self-efficacy in promoting pacific cohabitation among members of Congolese communities. OHED members assume that peace is a fundamental condition for living together.

The roles of the affiliation to solidarity and members’ seniority have been taken into account in OHED operational zones. Obtained results highlighted that OHED teaching helped maintain stability in areas where some Congolese communities had serious land conflicts and/or misunderstandings based on power.
